Concrete Driveways

Concrete Driveway Installation & Replacement In Nassau & Suffolk County

A new concrete driveway is the biggest curb-appeal upgrade most Long Island homes can make, and one of the most abused surfaces on the property. We remove the old asphalt or concrete, excavate to grade, compact a crushed-stone or RCA base, set forms to the correct pitch so water runs to the street and not the garage, and pour a 5–6" reinforced, air-entrained slab with saw-cut or tooled control joints.

Choose a classic broom finish, a colored finish, or exposed aggregate — and consider a paver soldier-course border for a custom look that still keeps the cost of a poured driveway. Driveway extensions, turnarounds, and new aprons to town specification are all included in our driveway work.

  • Full demolition & haul-away
  • Compacted stone or RCA base
  • 5–6" reinforced pour
  • Broom or exposed-aggregate finish
  • Paver borders available
  • Apron to town spec

Sidewalks, Walkways, Curbs & Aprons

Concrete Sidewalks & Walkway Repair On Long Island

Whether it is the public sidewalk in front of the house, the front walk to the stoop, or a side path to the backyard, we build 4" broom-finished walks with a picture-frame edge, expansion joints against the house and the curb, and the correct 1/4" per foot pitch. In the Towns of Hempstead, Oyster Bay, North Hempstead, Babylon and Huntington we replace flagged sidewalk-violation sections, curbs and aprons to the town's exact specification and help close out the permit.

Tree-root heaving is the number-one sidewalk problem in older Nassau neighborhoods like Levittown, Hicksville and East Meadow. We cut and remove the roots, add a root barrier where possible, and re-pour with proper base so the new flag stays level.

Patios & Pool Decks

Concrete Patios & Pool Decks

A poured concrete patio gives you the most outdoor living space per dollar, and with a colored or exposed-aggregate finish, or a contrasting paver border, it can look far more custom than a plain slab at a fraction of the cost of natural stone. We pour 4" reinforced slabs pitched away from the foundation, add channel drains where a yard collects water, and finish with a cure-and-seal so the color holds up to Long Island sun and de-icing salt.

Popular in Suffolk County's larger yards: a broom-finish patio field framed with a contrasting paver border, an integrated fire-pit pad, and a matching pool deck with a slip-resistant texture.

  • Broom & colored finishes
  • Exposed aggregate
  • Pool decks & fire-pit pads
  • Paver or brick borders
  • Drainage & channel drains
  • Cure-and-seal included

Paver Installation

Paver Patios, Walkways & Driveways

Interlocking concrete pavers and natural stone give you color, pattern and a surface that can be lifted and reset if a utility ever needs access. We excavate 8–12", compact a crushed-stone base in lifts, screed a bedding layer, lay the field in your chosen pattern with a soldier-course border, set restraint edging, and sweep polymeric sand into the joints to lock everything in and keep weeds out.

We install Cambridge, Nicolock, Techo-Bloc, Unilock and Belgard pavers — all readily available from Long Island mason supply yards — as well as bluestone and travertine. Ask about permeable paver systems for properties with drainage or town stormwater requirements.

Masonry

Steps, Stoops, Porches & Retaining Walls

Front steps and stoops take a beating from foot traffic, salt and freeze-thaw. We rebuild them in poured concrete, brick or block with a stone or bluestone tread, properly footed below the frost line so they stop pulling away from the house. Retaining walls in block, natural stone or segmental wall systems (Cambridge, Nicolock, Versa-Lok) hold back sloped yards, frame driveways and create usable flat space — built with drainage stone and perforated pipe behind the wall so they last.

We also handle stone and brick veneer, chimney and brick repointing, mailbox and pillar masonry, and outdoor kitchen and fire-pit bases.

Footings, Foundations, Garage & Shed Slabs

For additions, detached garages, sheds, dormers and new construction we form and pour footings and foundation walls to the engineer's drawings, and place flat slabs with vapor barrier, wire mesh or rebar and a smooth trowel finish. Commercial customers count on us for dumpster pads, loading areas, equipment pads, interior floor slabs and full storefront entrances across Nassau and Suffolk.

FAQ

Concrete & Masonry Service Questions

Should I choose a concrete driveway or pavers for my Long Island home?

Poured concrete is the lower-cost option and gives a clean, uniform look; pavers cost more up front but individual units can be lifted and reset if anything ever settles or a utility needs access. Many Nassau and Suffolk homeowners combine the two with a concrete field and a paver border. We will price both ways on request.

How thick should a concrete driveway be?

We pour residential driveways at 5 to 6 inches over a compacted crushed-stone or RCA base with reinforcement, which handles SUVs and pickups. Walkways and patios are typically 4 inches. Commercial or truck-loaded areas are engineered thicker.

Can you fix a Town of Hempstead or Oyster Bay sidewalk violation?

Yes. We replace flagged sidewalk sections, curbs and aprons to the town's specification for thickness, expansion joints, pitch and finish, and we can coordinate the permit and inspection so the violation is closed.

What is the best time of year to pour concrete on Long Island?

Spring through fall, when overnight temperatures stay above 40°F, is ideal. We pour in cold weather with blankets and accelerators when needed, but scheduling in March through November gives the best cure and finish.

Do you remove and haul away the old concrete?

Yes. Demolition, excavation and disposal of the old driveway, walk or patio are included in every estimate, along with final grading and clean-up.

Do you seal new concrete and pavers?

We apply a cure-and-seal to new concrete and recommend a penetrating sealer on colored concrete and pavers to resist salt, oil and freeze-thaw damage. Re-sealing every 2 to 3 years keeps the surface looking new.
